The Land of Oz Theme Park sits atop Beech Mountain in Banner Elk, NC. It opened in 1970, was immediately named the Best New Family Attraction, and has since had hundreds of thousands of people walk its yellow brick road. After its closing in 1980, people still searched for this beloved theme park so in 1990, the current owners decided to re-open it for the Autumn At Oz Party. Every year, on the first weekend in October, in order to meet popular demand and raise money to restore what was destroyed, Oz opens its doors to the public for this two day event. It has had an extremely successful fifteen year run, and is growing rapidly in size every year! Anything from the original park sells for a pretty penny. It is rare and highly sought after. This auction is a nice collection of some of the best souvenirs that gives a glimpse into how it once was - the original postcards! This is a lot of 6 from a set of about 10. These show scenes of the employees around the park in the original costumes that were used from 1970-1975; a fire destroyed them that December, the costumes were replaced, and new postcards were made, etc. This is the most complete set I have seen on eBay and were photographed by Jack Bowers. You get: The Famous Four skipping out of the Emerald City Lions & Tigers & Bears - Oh My! Dorothy, the Scarecrow, and The TinMan
