This is an old "Flow Blue" Cup & Saucer, circa 1895. Made in England by Wm. Grindley. The pattern is ARGYLE. This is one of the more famous of Flow Blue manufacturers and the pattern is well known. Please be aware that Flow Blue from this period often has uneven cloloring, smeared details, flaws under the glaze, spots of missing glaze, and they also have the bottom marks ( usually three) w the dish was place to dry. These distinctions are not considered damage in this type of dish. The condition of this particular Set is as follows: The Saucer is excellent with no chips, cracks or crazing. I would call it perfect. The Cup has two small rim chips(about 3/16") on the top rim. The damage is very slight and does not detract from this rare piece. It has a high shine and the gold accent marks are all present. Compare at $170.00 for this set from the replacement companies.
