**SALE**KENTUCKY SILVER SMITH, WILLIAM KENDRICK, WAS KNOWN FOR HIS HAMMERED COIN SILVERWARE FROM THE MID 1800'S**** He is part of the history of silversmithing in Kentucky, and is noted in the "The Kentucky Encyclopedia" and in "Kovels on Antiques and Collectibles". In the "The Kentucky Encyclopedia" he is noted as "one of the leading silversmiths of the Empire Period" They state that he was forced into bankruptcy by the financial panic between 1838 and 1842. After his financial recovery. he produced some of the major pieces of the of the Renaissance Revival era, along with Garner & Winchester and Hudson & Dolfinger. Due to the Civil War and the beginning of mass production, the period of individual silversmithing ended in Kentucky. Since then the hammered coin silverware has become collector items. Also one of William Kendrick's pieces, a silver mint julep cup, is listed in the Antique Roadshow for $2000. These 6 coin silver hammered serving spoons were handed down to my Grandmother, then to my mother. After my Mother passed away we were unable to find out who the monogram belonged to. I am not even able to read the monograms. I have tried my best to figure out who the monogram belonged to but was unable. Maybe someone out t will recognize the monogram.
