This WNYF is in pretty good shape for a book that is 57 years old. The cover page is a little scuffed up as you can see in the photograph, but the interior pages are white and do not show any age related discoloring. The book is filled with great firefighting articles and features. T is a story about The Loftus Suction Collector (a device designed to provide strong deck pipe or hand streams by using several weak water sources) and is accompanied by many illustrative diagrams. T are many photographs throughout the magazine, and the Photos of Recent Fires shows FDNY at work. T is a story about former Chief of Department Edward F. Croker who died on Feb. 7, 1951. Chief Croker is the one who, at the International Association of Fire Engineers said; " I have no ambition in this world but one, and that is to be a fireman. The position may, in the eyes of some, appear to be a lowly one; .... His full speech is written in this WNYF surrounded by some fantastic fire pictures. This issue contains the Runs and Workers list for 1950. It shows that Engine 26 and Ladder 26 were at the top of both the Runs and Workers list. The list shows the top 25 engines and ladder companies, and the top 10 battalions. This section also contains the Annual Report Statistics for 1950. Very interesting! The magazine has many features, but the All Hands section really gives you a taste of how things were on the job 57 years ago. You will not want to put this magazine down once you start reading it. If you are collecting WNYF magazines this would be a great addition. Payment if you win bid Please pay through PayPal within 3 days of receiving the invoice.
