Wonderful 26" long stockings, socks~red with blue stars

The stockings were all hung from the shutters with care--and what super neat primitive looking old stockings they are in faded out red with indigo blue stars. They date back from a time when if your socks got a hole you mended them, maybe not too neatly--and if they got more holes you mended them again and again. These are just way too much! They are 26" long and the feet are 8 1/2" from toe to heel. They have been washed and washed and what was probably a bright red is now faded to kind of a coral looking red. The stars are still quite blue but some have "bled" onto the red a bit. For as many times as they have been washed they are still in pretty good condition. Both toes have been mended with kind of a purple color with what looks like embroidery thread--I s'spect that is the best color they had on hand and t is one mended star--just above the heel. One stocking has two runs--one is 1 3/8" long and one is about 1". On the other stocking I see no runs but one star has a small hole--whoops, I just found a small 1/2" run on it and it is near the top. You will find a bit of wear along the seams, little brown stains at the heel and toes and just expected wear--really not as much as you might think. I am pretty sure they are made of cotton. Lots of pictures for you to look at--you can even enlarge them and see bigger stars. The gallery picture shows them a bit brighter colored than what they actually are. The close-ups are pretty accurate. Can you imagine all the attention these must have gotten when they were being worn? I doubt many gals had red stockings with blue stars. But even better, think how much attention they are going to get when you have them hanging from a peg rack, a pair of old shutters or even better, you know that Santa will not miss them if you hang them by the fireplace! Like I already said, they are just too much! These are going to be listed for 5 days only. Insurance is your option but I am not responsible for uninsured items that are damaged or more possibly get lost in transit at this busy season.
