This wonderful old country quilt top came from a local quilter's estate. It is all cotton fabrics, some feedsacks. Neatly hand pieced. Evidently a group of ladies had a quilting circle and started this quilt with local history! I do not know the name of the pattern, but it is interlocking stars with names and events embroidered in them. T is one block toward the center of a different pattern, see photo. T are 4 that are blank, that is they have no saying embroidered in them, guess you could embroidery your own additions! T are a few that have the name, saying, etc. penciled in but not embroidered, so for some reason this wasn't finished. An embroidery needle and thread would fix this. Most of the squares are dated and range from 1936-38. I love the block that says that Mrs. Smith got third place on white eggs at the 1937 county fair. Other sayings are " Eunice Johnson got first place on chochet rug at the county fair October 1937", "Mrs. Johnson got third place on house dress in the June contest 1937", "Mrs. Hampton married January 26, 1936". This top is in good condition. A couple of the seams need small areas of re stiching. T are some areas of darker aging that would probably soak out.
