It has a very nice tight weave and a nice original mellow patina. It has a bentwood handle and it is very secure and tight. This basket is about as close to perfect as you can have in an early basket. T are virtually no breaks or losses to the weaving, with the exception of one small break to one strip in the interior of the basket. This is a very nice 19th century melon basket and would be a welcome addition to a collection of American baskets.
