Circa: 1876. Up for auction is a great recent find in as found condition. It is a wonderful looking Seth Thomas & Sons 15 day Statue clock in remarkeable original condition. It is called the the Model No 8030. It has griffins and a women's head on top with all of it's original finish So extremely rare in these clocks. T are no breaks or repairs anyw on this case. Clock is a fifteen day Signed Seth Thomas & Sons Movement. It strike the hours and half hours on a delicate sounding Nickel bell, not those boring coil gongs. This is what Seth Thomas and Sons were famous for these fifteen day counterstrike movements were considered the finest any clock company ever made in the 19th century and so percise they revailed the French clocks in every way. They hired a man named H. Kaiser who designed and built these movements. It has been professionally serviced and it runs perfectly, I do not guarantee clocks runinng any more due to shipping , but she is a sweatheart of a clock and running as I list this. It has a signed dial which reads Mitchell Vance & Co. N.Y. The were a gas light and glass maker and clock maker out of Broadway Street in New York. Clocks sold by this company are very rare indeed. This feature adds greatly to the value of this clock as the addition of Tiffany & Co added to clock dials due to t clocks. The dial is almost perfect t is chipping around the left winding arbour otherwise as nice as it gets. The Jewler signature is crip and clear. Seth Thomas and Sons were a spin off of Seth Thomas they made high grade clocks for the Wealthy market and to compete with the French clocks pouring into this country at that time. Many collectors feel these clocks were the finest made by any company even Kroebers and they command great wealth today, and they were made on a Limited and short duration. The finish has some wear on griffins and statues and case, but over 95% of these are rusted solid and bent out of shape or repainted. To find one unspoiled like this is indeed a treasure. It has copper and green hues and the statues are fabulous to look at. This clock has the original Pendulum and yes even the original two sided key. It does not get any better than this. It has heafty beveled glass around the dial, that is in mint condition. The door opens and closes perfectly, also rare for these statue clocks. Great clock for collectors, new comers, Seth Thomas Collectors, and yes Seth Thomas & Sons Collectors as well. It is feauted in the Famous Tran Duy Ly book on page 296 clock number 866. It is 14.5 inches high and had a retail value in 2000 of over $450.00, that was eight years ago.In this unspoiled condition you tell me what it is worth. If you snooze you loose on this clock in this original condition they do not show up very often. I have offered this beautiful clock with No reserve as well. The serious collector knows what this clock is so should you as well. Just a great wedding present for some one special, don't you agree? How about that newly remolded room in your house that needs just one more touch, can it get any more beautiful than this clock Remember it is condition that determines the value of clocks like this one Enjoy .
