Carved by RENOWNED AND FOREMOST bird carver JIM PALMER SR associated for many years with Tom Clark and Cairn Studios. This miniature *WOOD DUCK* measures appox 12 in from the tip of it's tail feathers to the tip of it's bill, over 5 in tall. This WONDERFUL *WOOD DUCK* was made in 1981 at Cairn Studios in Davidson North Carolina USA. He is in PERFECT CONDITION! Comes with CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY, AND IS RETIRED. Jim Palmer Sr, the artist, passed away several years ago, making his birds truly a limited collector item. An excerpt frpm Cairn Studios states that: "a Palmer original can command prices in the tens of thousands of dollars. Cairn Studios offers Palmer designs in limited edition productions of superb quality, all pieces are numbered. Each bird that is carved is ornithologically correct: primary, secondary and scapular feathers all appear in the exact number and placement. Painting from the actual skins of species Palmer spends from 50 to 250 hours to finish a carving. It is his insistence on capturing the exact hues and iridescence found in nature that makes finishing the artwork such a painstaking process".
