Wood Laquer Bowl With Lid & Carved Wood Bead Handle-Japan
This beautiful old 5" diameter wood laquer box or bowl with lid is from the 1950s or 1960s. Just a guess however. The color appears to be ebony black and t are 3 round painted discs on the lid with yellow & gold floral designs. The knob is a carved oval wood bead in a burnt red color. T are 3 hairline cracks and the paint is flaking off due to age on the sides of the bead but this doesn't detract. T is a 1/2" burnt red band around the rim of the lid. The inside of the bowl is laqured as well. T are tiny fleabite of paint that has flaked off around the lip of the dish due to age and you can see the wood underneath. Ingraved on the bottom of the bowl is Made in Japan. This is simply a gorgeous piece in pretty good condition for its age.
