Spartans, Tonight we Dine in Hell" Up for auction is a handmade wooden toy Spartan sword, as seen in the upcoming frank miller movie 300. This truly unique sword was hand built in my woodshop using old-world materials and quality craftsmanship. If you've seen the trailers for 300 you know this movie looks incredible!! I just had to make my version of the Spartan sword carried by Spartan King Leonidas. I had a blast researching the costumes and designing a sword that is as close to the real thing as a wooden toy could possibly get. You have to examine the sword at close range to know it's just a toy. This sword is absolutely perfect for costumes, light sword play, or would make an awesome display. The sword is safe for kids, with all edges being rounded over and the entire sword has been sanded smooth. I believe that my wooden swords have an old-world feel that only comes from being handmade. I see people who spend hours making and distressing authentic costumes only to buy cheap plastic swords. And unlike a steel sword, wooden swords are lighter to carry, and can be carried places w real swords aren't allowed. The sword is made with the following features: Overall length of 30.5 inches Made of solid poplar Tang construction (the tang of the blade passes through the crossguard and deep into the handle, just like a real sword!!!) read more
