STUNNING ANTIQUE JAFF KURD SADDLEBAG HALF, NW Persian Tribal, North and West of Senneh, late 19th century up to 1900, and it comes in most excellent condition for the collector. The exact size is: 2'-0" x 2'-2" (61 x 66 cm). Simply stated, my photos do not even come close to giving this lovely antique weaving the justice it deserves. Tactially speaking, the A+ wool quality is superb, soft and silky to the touch. All of the dye lots are 100% natural and derived from plant sources with a wide varity of saturated colors. The condition is near mint with high fleecy pile allover (see photo # 9). I see one small moth bite area in the top of the field and small abrasions to the left and right bottom corners from past ethnographic tribal camp and transport usage (see photos # 7 and 8). The side cord over-castings are original and complete. This lovely weaving comes with its original backing that is colorfully embellished with a brocaded panel at the top. Note two holes on back (see photos # 11 and 12). The aforementioned minor blemishes do not deter from the magical quality of having this extraordinary textile relic in the hand. This one IS the very best specimen of its type I have ever owned in my 40 years in the antique carpet trade.
