In this auction we are offering a 12" Replogle Standard Globe, displaying the political borders of c 1936/37, prior to WW2. This particular Globe displays Italian East Africa, which existed for a very short period: 1936-1942. Description: The Globe itself is of card board, covered with gores of paper representing the map. The mounting consists of a half meridian and base, both made of metal with a bronze finish. Condition: The Globe is in average condition and shows typical wear for its age in form of wrinkles, soiling and minor scuffmarks. Details of the legend are crisp, colors are vivid. Trade Routes are visible including distance in mileage.The base and meridian are in good condition with some scratchmarks. No cracks. Please see pictures for details. The age of the Globe has been determined by the political borders displayed, which are as follows : Europe : Europe is shown at the dawn of WWII. Austria has not yet been annexed by Germany (1938). Czechoslovakia is still an independ country as well (1939). The Islands of Cyprus and Malta are shown to be under British control. Middle East/Asia: Persia has changed to Iran (1935). Pakistan does not yet exist.(ch 1947). Palestine is shown instead of Israel (ch 1948). Jordan is called Transjordan . Instead of Indonesia Netherland East India is shown. Today's Malaysia is shown
