ORIGINAL WORLD WAR 1 TRENCH PERISCOPE This is an original WW1 1918 dated British Army Trench Periscope. It is typical of the standard issue periscope and in excellent condition with good optics although the lenses would benefit from careful cleaning. It measures 23 inches overall with a 13 1/2 inch brass periscope tube. It retains some of its original green and brown paint. The rear of the eyepiece is stamped 'PERISCOPE MK IX 1918 R & J BECK LTD NO 25835.' The eyepiece is adjustable for focus. It has a removable wood handle which is original and in good order. This is exactly the type of trench periscope used to peer over the parapet into 'No Man's Land'.
