This solid, steel, WW II, combat helmet has never had anything done with it, save a bit of polishing perhaps. This package includes steel helmet; a fiberglass liner with adjustable webbing that holds the adjustable sweat band; an adjustable, head-back strap; a web netting that covers the outside of the helmet (similar to the helmets you see in the movie, "Saving Private Ryan"); adjustable chin straps for the steel helmet--the snap style, which according to many "experts", is the conventional World War II strap.(see photo accompanying picture of net webbing on steel helmet and suspension inside of liner at bottom of description.) The fiberglass liner with suspension is NOT the original equipment--rotten webbing, shriveled leather sweat bands, etc., have all been replaced with new items. Regardless, the liner with suspension fits perfectly into the WW II steel helmet. Also, the fiberglass liner holds the suspension--adjustable webbing, and sweat band. It presses snugly into the helmet, holding the net webbing firmly on the outside of the helmet also. The adjustable webbing inside the fiberglass liner can be adjusted for how high or low the helmet sits on the head.
