ITEM: You are bidding on an original, vintage World War II propaganda poster. Titled "This is the Enemy" this features incredibly powerful war bonds message. One of the most desirable posters from WWII, this shows a Nazi swastika clad hand putting a knife through the bible, remarkably haunting modernist imagery. It is the best of the best. Barbara Marks, artist. Office of War Information poster, no. 76. 1943. 28 x 20. This poster portrays the anti-religious nature of the Nazi movement. In 1942, the Office of War Information worked to define poster content by category. One of the categories was The Nature of the Enemy. Posters in this category were to portray the enemy as one who hated religion, who smashed home life, who killed Jews and other minorities and who persecuted labor. An iconic image from one of the most important public service advertising campaigns in American history, these images and their associated tag lines remain part of our national conversation today. This is 100% original and vintage. A true Americana find from the collection of the Gibbs library which had amassed an archive of these original World War I and World War II posters, we will be selling all no reserve in the coming months on ebay.CONDITION: This vintage World War II propaganda poster is in fine condition with some slight creasing that won't be visible when displayed, a little wear along the original mailing folds, unevenness to the black, some minor scattered soiling, and some very minimal edgewear. This is as good as it gets.
