This item up for auction is a WWI US Navy Officer's Dress Sword. The overall length of the sword is approximately 35 inches and the length of the blade is 29-3/4 inches. The sword has an etched blade with the initials and name of WW Meer. The blade does have some spots w the plating is pitted and flaked off. The blade is stamped made in Germany near the handle and on the opposite side it has six point star with a tree in the middle and it reads proved. This has a sharkskin wrapped handle and the wire wrap is loose and broken in places. The guard has leaves and acorns and USN on it. The scabbard is in good condition with some scrapes and scratches.
