Up for sale are a series of very rare photos of various sizes being sold as sets. Please view all my auction listings for the other sets. This first set is a four image set of the bombing of the area around the Imperial Palace in Tokyo, Japan. Please excuse the glare on the images from my photographic malfeasance. These images are original and not copies.T is several books out on this subject, one in particular caught my eye called " To Destroy a City" Strategic Bombing and it's Human Consequences in W.W.2. Starting on page 265 the author discusses in great detail the bombing raids of Tokyo, Yokohama, Kobe, Nayoga and Osaka Japan. Oddly, I did not make the connection of the significance of these sets of pictures until I had read this excerpt. Thes photos portray in rather graphic detail these events that occured in the waning months of the war. Night raids using B-26 Bombers began in Tokyo on Feb 25-26th 1945 and were accelerated in March and April and May of 1945. I believe the pictures are from this time frame. The images are very clear and crisp and the viewer can make out the many details that show the extent of damage done to the Tokyo area. The first image is one that details the exact location of the palace grounds and surrounding buildings, hospital, Japanese Imperial Guards, Parade Grounds, Dept. of Justice, Sakurada Gate
