A sweet 1944 Long Branch Training Rifle. This thing is HEAVY! It was designed to accurately portray to a soldier exactly what they would be carrying and how it would be used, specifically how to use a bolt action rifle. Bolt can be pulled out and returned to cock the rifle and trigger releases the cocked mechanism. Can also release the draw by pulling the bolt back out and holding in the trigger while replacing bolt, just in case you change your mind! Has 0L3624 stamped into the wood on the underside of the gun 3" from the front. The stock is made from 2 pieces of heavy, dense wood. One piece forms the butt to the tip while the 2nd piece caps the 1st and finishes the top of the rifle from the chamber to the nose. On the underside of the butt, just behind the trigger guard t is a small stamp that is hard to read. It is an oval and has a 9 what could be a w in a circle? I have tried high magnification with little luck, so I darkened that picture to show the detail as much as possible. Butt plate still has spring action in it. I included several pictures so you can see for yourself what a neat and unusual piece of history this is. Not many Long Branch rifles around these days! Please note that the chamber is solid on this dummy rifle, IT CANNOT BE MODIFIED and will not ever shoot a projectile. I never have a reserve on my auctions. read more
