Genuine World War I & World War II Military Issued Pull-Chain Rosary. These were issued by the US Government for all personal who wanted these rosaries. They proved to be the toughest made, and could withstand a lot of abuse. Of course we know that they were not abused, but used in the most dangerous, & not so clean & put through tests that no rosary should ever have to endure. But in order to give our soldiers a rosary that would be the best that could be made & yet manageable for the Government to mass produce these for the soldiers who wanted them, they were exactly what the soldiers wanted. There were quite a few soldiers who used rosaries, tiny pocket statues, tokens given to them by loved one's that could fit in their pockets, as they had no room to put much else into their packs, as they had to travel light. But true to the fact is that the center medal has Our Lord Jesus Christ carrying His cross, just as our soldiers carried their crosses into battle, & they carried them with pride. They wanted to have these to pray with as a lot of times they had to wait on the enemy, and to pass time as they sat in fox holes, they prayed, & prayed with their rosaries. This is a silver plated (although it looks like real silver to me) pull chain named because it resembles the chain that you pull on for a light bulb to light up the room. read more
