In the summer of 1985, the Baseball Hall of Fame was having a regatta and boat race on Cooperstown Lake. They asked the Coca-Cola Co. to enter a boat. Since it coincided with the introduction of “new” Coke, they agreed. What they did was obtain an older 1957 14 ½ foot Starcraft "V" bottom aluminum “runabout” and decorated it with official logos of the time “can’t beat the feeling”, “we caught the wave” and “drink Coca-Cola”. These were not stenciled, but actually painted on, as they would a truck. In addition, they painted the inside red, as well as the motor (a 40hp Evinrude) and the trailer. As far as I can find out, it was only used during the New Coke campaign around a few lakes in upper state NY. With the dimise of New Coke, the boat was put away in 1987. It ended up going for sale locally, and I bought it. This is truly a one-of-a-kind official Coca-Cola item, and besides being a great collectible..it is fun to ride. I have used it on my lake every summer and it runs great (speeds over 30MPH!!). It has a trailer (easy to tow since the boat is aluminum), custom made red cushions (the inside is mainly mahogany), a built-in radio, a red gas tank and a red battery as well as the red motor. There is only one of these in the world, and there will never be another!! I have now decided to sell it. If you live on or near water, or even if you don’t, this would be great to show and is most collectible. It is located on Webster lake in NH. Free delivery within 100 miles.
