First off, let me say that I am a coin collector - not stamps. I did, however, run across this large collection of very old stamps. Included are 2 stamp books. The first is dated 1935 from the Whitman Publishing Company. It is in very frail shape. The pages are brittle and the binding is in frail shape also. Inside are a lot a stamps from a lot of countries - some of which do not exist anymore. It is by no means full, but I estimate there to be approximately 750 or so stamps. The second book is dated 1950 by H. E. Harris & Co. of Boston. It probably contains 200 to 300 stamps, also from different countries. Both books have US stamps in them as well. There more goodies yet: - 12 very old small envelopes from "The Times Sales Company". They are undated, but look to be from the early 1900's. Each envelope has from a few to a "bunch" of stamps in it. - 4 envelopes from "The Gideons of Michigan". Their description is the same as those above. 24 - 3x5" yellow cards, each with several stamps from a country attached to them with stamps tabs (not glued on). The countries are: Austria (4), Ukrainia, Canada, Italy, Germany (2), Spain, Netherlands, Latvia, Belgium, Switzerland, Russia, Hungary, Sweden, Denmark, China, France, Norway, Poland, United States and Great Britain. 1 - Old envelope postmarked from Holland, MI in 1911 containing another "bunch" of stamps. 1 - Approval Book from an unnamed company with 7 stamps in it - I do recognize where they are from. 1 - Old small brown bag that appears to have been a bag for photo negatives containing 4 stamps from the Netherlands. 2 - Very small white envelopes each containing a few stamps. 2 - Small see-through envelopes each with world stamps in them. Some of these appear to have a "stuck together" issue. 1 - Very small envelope from the "International Stamp Distributing Corp. of America" containing 9 stamps from "Espana Correos", whatever or wherever that is. 1 - Cut-off manila envelope containing a "bunch" of US stamps, mostly cut off from the envelope they were on. 1 - Baggie with another "bunch" of what looks to be world stamps. Same description as above. 2 - Cut-off mailing package portions containing US postage stamps. One has 8 Frederick Law Olmsted 33 cent stamps. The other has quite an array of different stamps on it. 1 - Old sheet of 2-ring binder paper with a few stamps form the US, Canada, Germany and the Netherlands attached. Looks to be from a young collector judging by his/hers penmanship. 1 - Block of 10 "Tweety & Sylvester" 32 cent stamps. All in all, I think that this would be a pretty exciting find for a true stamp collector. If only it had been coins! Thank you and
