Beads are hand-carved, and made from black coral, called "yusr" as well, an Arabic word meaning "ease" or "well-being" according the circumstances. Coral is one of the most ancient gems, found in archaeological places dated at about 10.000 years BC. It was very popular in Ancient Egypt and among Celtic tribunes. About 6.000 varieties are known today, and are found in warm and clear seas all over the world. Coral is believed to calm and improve life, to restore harmony during emotional conflicts and many relate it to blood circulation. It is said that coral protects children, so in many cultures it is given as a gift to children.
