WOW 1930s Hollywood starlet press book RKO pass photos! Incredibly rare starlet press book circa 1931-1933 of Joan Stiles (nee Smith, also Joan Styles, Josephine Stiles) of Waukon, Iowa. In the scrapbook, letters, photographs and clippings recount her brushes with film fame and press mentions. In 1932, Stiles was the winner of modeling contest and the prize was a screen test and a walk-on non-speaking role in the 1933 Mae West film "She Done Him Wrong." Her photobooth-size test shots of a hair color change are included, as well as the guest pass for the RKO lot. A two-page contract with Warner Brothers dated 1935 is also included. Personal letters and photographs are also , including a few 'paper moon' photos from 1935 and two dark tourist photos from Agua Caliente, Mexico that resemble tintypes (though not on tin) - in one she and her sugar daddy are holding white macaws. Another photo depicts her and an older man against a fake trolley car backdrop in Tijuana. Telegraphs and two more dark photos of Smith and a man in a waiter's uniform next to a car are included. The rest is primarily newspaper clippings that are pasted to the pages. The scrapbook itself has been through some ordeal and the cover is no longer attached to the front.
