Up for auction is a magnificent handpainted blue and white plate depicting a mother feeding her child. When I bought the plate I thought the image on the front was a transfer print however I have looked at certain areas on the plate using a loupe and what I don't see is little dots or a photolithographic image. The plate measures about 9-1/4" in diameter, is signed "Maar Blommers" (maybe) on the front of the plate, and bears the Royal Delft blue bottle stamp on the reverse. I am guessing the date by the markings on the back, particularly the small "BX" below the stamp. According to the book I was using, this two-letter combination was the date mark employed by this factory to mark its wears. The plate is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or damage. Buyer pays shipping and optional insurance. I have to charge a small amount for bubble wrap, packing peanuts and the shipping box (when I can't find a free one) but I promise not to gouge you on the fee or on shipping. For this item the charge for packing stuff is $3.00, and the shipping charge will be as close as possible to the actual shipping cost. I hate to add any fees but I have been unable to find free packing supplies for awhile. I have packaging standards and never use newspaper or old towels or the like for shipping, and in order to continue packaging auction items read more
