WHOA!!! This piece of Rutilted Quartz is seriously AWESOME!!!!!!!!! The light coppery/pinkish colored rutile needles run in all different directions. Check out the last two photos, there are smokey phantoms running up from the bottom!

Rutilated quartz is a beautiful stone produced by inclusions of goldenrutile in quartz. At a high temperature and pressure the two minerals are collectively stable, but as the temperature and pressure drop the rutile crystals become trapped inside the quartz crystals. The rutile needles and the quartz crystal then continue to grow simultaneously at the lower temperatures, producing one of the most stunning combinations in the mineral world.
Approx. 4" x 2" x 5.25" tall; weighs 1 lb. 13 oz.
*Note: This piece has some natural fractures.
