I am planning on spending 2 months in the Golok area of Amdo, Tibet this summer at my teacher, Khentrul Lodro Thaye Rinpoche's monastery t In order to do so, I need a lot more cash than I have right now, so I am going to put as many items as I can on sale for as low a price as I can - many below cost! I plan on helping him finish rebuilding the monastery and school and hope to start taking photographs for a prospective book on him and his monastery. Large size, colorful thangka of Heruka Vajrakilaya, a yidam deity who embodies the energetic activity of all the buddhas, manifesting in an intensly wrathful yet compassionate form in order to subjugate the delusion and negativity that can arise as obstacles to the practice of Dharma. This thangka was painted by traditional methods, including the chanting of the proper sutras. Bought last year. The painting is from an artist's co-op in Kathmandu Nepal. Not signed, as has been traditional for Tibetan Buddhist thangkas for many centuries.

Measures about 17 & 3/4 inches by 24 & 3/4inches, not counting the outer brown borders.

This thangka is not mounted in brocade and unfortunately I cannot provide that service.

Please compare my detailed thangka photos to other thangkas available on eBay to determine the quality. Don't bother to compare them to the extremely low quality glut of fake "antique" or "old" "Tibetan" thangkas from China that have flooded the market in the last few years. T IS no comparison with these fakes that are as iconographically as incorrect as you can possibly find! These thangkas are really terrible quality!! I haven't seen a genuine antique Tibetan thangka on ebay in MANY years. Not only has China 's brutal regime been systematically eliminating Tibet 's culture and religion in Tibet , they are ruining the art of thangka painting w it is barely hanging on in exile in Nepal and India .
