What a very unique little shell dresser box! The frame of this box appears to be made of some sort of thick pressed board. The front resembles a grain painted dresser with 3 false drawers and two side cupboards. Shells decorate its top surface and front rim at the base. It is missing shells and shows wear reflective of its age. Although loose on the sides the top is still hinged together with some sort of soft material. It looks like at one point it would have had a small mirror in between the two vertical pieces on its back. This would be quite easy to replace as I believe it would have been glued to the back. A couple of the shells have been painted a decorative pale old red. This wonderful box measures 4 ¾ x 31/2 inches. It is 4 7/8 inches in height from base to tip of the vertical side pieces that would have held the mirror. This is a wonderful piece and very unique with a lovely old patina to it!
