Incredible Bernie Wrightson Marvel Comics cover painting to the 1985 Gargoyle #1. The painting is about 17 by 25 and framed it is 22 by 28. Bernie Wrightson, the Master of the Macabre, is known for his horror work and this vintage painting is one of his best. It is painted on 1/8" Bainbridge board which is backstamped (c) 1984 Marvel Comics. Signed "Wrightson" in paint in the lower right. It is a dark and rainy night and the Gargoyle is perched on an old building surrounded by three stone gargoyles. The moonlight glistens off the Gargoyle's back as he gets ready to take flight. One of the best paintings by one of the best artists ever to work in comics. It is also a vintage Marvel Comics #1 first issue cover painting. This is the original art, one of a kind painting. Also included is the comic book Gargoyle #1. The painting will ship framed, placed between 2 pieces of hardboard, packed in foam and then sealed in a custom made wood 2 by 3 and plywood box. It will ship insured by UPS Next Day or USPS Priority. I will charge a flat 125.00 for shipping and insurance to the US only. I accept US checks or certified checks only. US Bidders only. I will hold shipment of painting until check clears. Thanks.
