Chinese - Ching Dynasty - Carved Jade Tea Bowl , stunning!!! - ca. 1750 CE - Ok, this is quite a bowl. Carved out of brown/tan/black jade! Inscribed pattern carved around the out side under the top edge, and a floral pattern carved around the bottom above the foot. This could be MUCH older, but also might be a tad later. The jade itself is ancient, so need to guess according to period styles. Was part of a family treasure hidden during the Communsist Regime in China, and resurfaced in Taiwan in 1995.Only about 300 grams. Thin, very graceful feel, perfect for the Japanese ceremony. Stunning with the bright green ma-cha inside! And quite translucent. Photos 1, and certainly 5 and 6 show that clearly.A few thin 'crackles' in the stone along the upper edge, but really quit together. 5 inches across the top opening, 2.25 inches high (12.5 x 6. cm). I hope the pictures will answer most of your questions, but please email with more? Shipping: This is not very heavy at all; about 300g un-boxed, perhaps 1k when safely packaged? Here in Japan , I would recomend a Yupack. International: I will perhaps insist on EMS , whick is insured, registered, and 3-day express. Perhaps about $24.00 for Asai & Australia , $30.00 for the USA and Canada , and $38.00 for Europe . That price includes insurance up to about $230.00, and additional inurance can be added, at a very reasonalbe cost. Several similar items can be shipped together at a very similar, perhaps identical cost? I am FINALLY listing the original inventory from the original Wabi Shop of Cleveland. Please visit, to see a real treasure house of ancient and new tea related items. Smile, sip some tea, and bid (or BIN) on! Shipping: Now, EBay has some new policy on needing to list shipping, but it is for domestic USA prices, and I am over in Japan. PLEASE refer to the site (under 'Additional Checkout Info'?), or email if that is not clear. I am putting a 'official' fee in so that I can get my sites listed again. It may be more or less that that. Sorry. I have no idea just how to remedy this problem yet. Best, Daniel at the Wabi Shop * * * ... now, prices ... I want to sell everything in The Wabi Shop. I am asking prices that allow me to earn an income running my eBay store. Fair is fair, eh? But I now want to return to my once abondoned music career (my new CD is for sale in the shop!), and want to empty the shelves and closets of all the Wabi Shop things. Please make offers! Be brave! I will very happily consider whole-sale offers, and combined offers! Ok, back to business... (this applies to all my Wabi Shop items!!!)... * * * Yes, I am FINALLY getting the tea-things out for sale in the eBay Wabi Shop . It has been EXACTLY ten years now since these items, left over as we closed the shop back in Cleveland in September of 1997, were packed away in boxes, and sent here to Japan. Just opened this year, and now getting them in the shop for sale! The original Wabi Shop was a tea-related antique shop of sorts. It was a tea house, and in fact, the very first traditional Chinese tea house in the USA. Opened in September of 1993 on the day of the Harvest Moon (Tsu-Chong Jye; a very important festival day in China!) I was tempted to call it the Harvest Moon Tea Shop? (As in "Tea Shop of the Harvest Moon?") I specialized in the traditioanl Chinese methods of preparing and drinking tea, and in the traditional Japanese tea ceremony as well. During many years of travelling through Europe on bicycle, visiting historical sites, hearing concerts, and learning about the world, I was so amazed at the many various traditions of serving tea! On a special morning, while crossing a bridge in Gent, I invisioned one day opening a world tea shop...and after living in Taiwan for 5 years, and visiting Japan many times, AND returning to Cleveland Ohio (USA), I did infact open this shop. The shop had a Chinese tea room, and Jap...
