Chinese - Tang Dynasty - Tea Bowl (A) - ca. 750 CE - The Chinese were then drinking green tea in bowls in an early version of the ceremony that would really develop during the Sung Dynasty (and eventually end up in Japan). This very likely was a bowl used for tea? The Tang was from 618 to 906 CE (AD), so just taking 750 CE as an average. Could be anywhere in there. The bowl is thick and full bodied. It has several chips, and some wear to the upper edge, but otherwise very intact and there! Very beautiful glaze. Lots of shades of greens, and ochre, and cream in the glaze; perhaps not so clear in the photo. VERY BEAUTIFUL complex lustre. The bottom has no foot; perfectly flat. Very good feel in the palm; textured, but smooth. 5.75 inches across, 2 inches high (14.5 x. 4.5cm). Easily my favorite bowl in the entire Wabi Shop collection! It is beautiful, and loaded with history. I hope the pictures will answer most of your questions, but please email with more? Shipping: This is not very heavy at all; about 300g un-boxed, perhaps 1k when safely packaged? Here in Japan , I would recomend a Yupack. International: I will perhaps insist on EMS , whick is insured, registered, and 3-day express. Perhaps about $22.00 for Asai & Australia , $28.00 for the USA and Canada , and $30.00 for Europe . That price includes insurance up to about read more
