This is a WW 2, wool on wool, Philippine made ULTRA RARE Armed Forces Radio Service (AFRS) patch & the WVTM radio station call letters wool on wool arc with his 96th Infantry Division patch off of the same Army uniform. The AFRS patch and arc were featured in the current Oct. - Dec. 2007 ASMIC Trading Post. The Veteran was involved with the 96ths' campaigns in the Philippines and Okinawa. He returned with the Div. to the Philippines the end of July 1945. From then to Jan. 1946 he was a member of the Public Information Office HQ's, PHILRAYCOM, I&E Det. HQ's, 8113th Service Det. (Manila Casual Center) APO 900, Armed Forces Radio Service, WVTM Manila. After January 1946 he was transfered to the 5th Air Force in Japan for occupation duty. He served with the AFRS, ARMY - NAVY - AIR FORCE until mid Sept. 1947 when he returned to the U.S. at Fairfield - Suisun Army Air Field, California for seperation from the service on 22 Sept. 1947. The 5th Air Force patch and AFRS, Army - Navy - Air Force arc are Japanese made on a blue twill like material. They were removed from his early Air Force blue uniform. They do not glow with a UV blacklight.
