Columbia Gives to Her Son
The Accolade of the New Chivalry to Humanity These are becoming very rare - you don't find them in the antique stores anymore - a sure sign they are fading on the market It was purchased 20 years ago without a frame - it was then professionally framed matching the original frame (they looked it up) - on retirement and moving to a smaller house - the glass was broken - in that the back was sealed I didn't try to remove the glass that remains in the frame and have left it alone so as not to damage the item It does have stains on it and darkened consistent with age and it appears to have been out of a frame for a good many years - when it was purchased - - ~~ About the award itself~~ War War 1 (called the great war) began July 1914 and ended on November 11th, 1918 - it was presented to Pvt Marvin J Micham Company "C" 110th Regiment 28th Division and signed by then President Woodrow Wilson - it has been acknowledged that he signed a plate that was used on these awards - of course he didn't sign each one personally. These were awarded between 1919 and the advent of the Purple Heart in 1932 which took the place of these paper printed wounded soldier awards. The WW1 site indicates that 4 million soldiers served during this period and of these 250,000 were issued the "Meritorious Service Citation Award" as it was formally known ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Please Read the following additional information Please note: This item is antique at least 80 years old - it is not in perfect shape and stain damage consistent with its advanced age - - Verification of who this soldier was or when he served was not available as detailed information on WW 1 veterans seems not to be available from the Department of the Army - only that the Company C 110 Regiment 28th Division existed in WW 1 and saw action If you doubt the authenticity of the item - please do not bid - what is indicated here is what I've been able to find Shipping Charges are for UPS Ground, appropriate container & packing material to safe guard while in transit
