A brass WW I Army USCE Pocket Watch style Compass. This compass was designed for the Corps of Engineers in the 1st World War era. It is engraved on the outside "U.S.C.E." (United States Corp of Engineers). It is marked in the center on the face of the compass "Taylor", the compass is made by Taylor of Rochester NY. It is 1 ¾" in diameter. Designed like a pocket watch case, pressing the stem opens the case. Raised glass with a copper band surrounding the glass border. Blue steel needle with a red jeweled twisted bar. The bar needle works fluidly. The face is in great condition with no stains or loss of color. All of the numbers and increments are clear. Case is in good condition with only a few minor age spots on one side. No scratches, chips or cracks to the glass.
