Two (2) original World War II military ID dog tags forSamuel E. Watts. The 2 tags are gold colored and they are on chains of the same color. One tag is on a 5 inch chain along with a plastic St. Christopher charm. The other tag is on a 25 inch chain with a French 2 franc piece. Both tags are stamped: Samuel E Watts 39398002 T42 44 B P Name; service number; tetanus shots 1942, 1944; blood type B; religious preference: Protestant On one side of the St. Christopher charm is an image of St. Christopher carrying a baby with a halo and the words “St. Christopher be my guide”. The other side of the charm has the head of a young woman and the letters HNS. HNS is for the Hole Name Society. The Holy Name Society can be traced back as far as the fourteenth century. One side of the 2 franc piece has “Travail * Famille * Patrie” - Work, Family, Country. It also has the number 2, and Francs. Although the hole is punched through the date, the first and last digits are visible: 1 and 3. The other side of the coin has Etat Francais – literally ‘French State’ as well as 2 ears of wheat and an axe. Research shows that Samuel E. Watts was born on 5 Feb 1921 in Mississippi. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on 24 Sep 1942 in Sacramento, California. At the time he enlisted, he was living in Shasta County, California; he had 2 years of high school and read more
