1942 Minneapolis Honeywell Regulator Company M38 Telescope probably used to find azimuth when sighting the 75mm gun of the M4 Sherman Tank. The scope is in overall excellent condition showing very little wear and no damage as shown in the photos. The optics are clear with one or two tiny specks (possibly dust or original minor defects; no humidity has entered the case and lenses remain free of scratches, distortion, opacity, or discoloration). Telescope and base are complete with all original parts. This piece was recently found in Italy. The inscriptions on the ocular piece read:

TELESCOPE, M38
M.H.R.CO. 1942 D.A.
NO.41653
C80023

This scope was also used as a prop piece in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. The 1942 M38 variation (the 1943 model differs) was affixed atop a British Sterling L2A3 sub-machine gun to form the weapon prop known as a Blastech E11 blaster rifle. This particular variation was used by Han Solo when in Stormtrooper disguise. It was the gun he used to destroy a control console and video monitors on the detention level of the Death Star.
