A wonderful WW 2 locket, yellow gold filled with a genuine hand carved shell cameo set into the front with floral engraving. This is made by the Speidel Company, circa 1940's. Measures 7/8" (not including the length of the bail) x 3/4". The back has a simple ribbed pattern. Opens to reveal both original bezels and a terrific photo of a US Army officer. Maker hallmarked on the bail, and hallmarked "1/20 12K G. Filled" on the inside back of the bail. With a thin curb link yellow gold filled 18" chain. In excellent very well babied condition. $5.95 US ship/insure.
About the maker: *Speidel Corporation- Providence, Rhode Island. Established in 1904 as a branch of the Pforzheim, Germany company, founded in 1869 by Friedrich Speidel who made gold-filled and silver chains in his home in Pforzheim. They manufacture sterling, gold filled, white metal and gold-plated Waldemars, Dickens, vest, coat, belt and sport chains, sautoirs, neck chains and watch bracelet. Now a Textron Company.
