WW1 CAP ( please excuse the black spot its the camera not the cap) This cap is olive green wool.The edging is a blue-green.The unpolished captains bars are marked sterling on the back.Inside, the liner is gold and t is a sweat stained leather band. T is writing on the back side of the band that reads... corp.---------------------- 111 Inf. 28 DIV AEF (t is a name written,however, out of respect I didn't list it.) Written beside this in different handwritting is Bought in Lemans France 1918. According to record some of the heavist casulties the 28th div. had was to it's ground Officers...so I can only assume that this soldier was a Corporal at first but was promoted in the field to Captain. The condition of this cap is very good.It has a slight small hole w the bars are pinned. The inside liner and band have some runs and tears but they are still very much intact. The 28th Division was involved with some of the most brutal combat battles in France.....So, the wear and tear on this cap should only be viewed as honorable!!! I strongly feel that this important piece of AEF history must be givin the respect it deserves....So please only those who truly understand the signifigance of this cap....Please bid. In my opinion the AEF Doughboys were the bravest soldiers of WW1 . Thank you for your interest ! All sales final and I only ship with insurance please contact me for any questions you may have
