Offering this great piece of WW1 history. This is a German/Prussian belt buckle and complete leather belt with 16 buttons attached. This was commonly referred to as a "Hate" belt. Supposely each button represents a deceased enemy taken from the field of battle. Buttons are a variety of different sizes and the belt has buttons with the Crown and plain brass type. Belt is 39 inches long and 1 3/4 inches wide and appears to be black on the outside and brown on the inside. The brass buckle has a slight dent which is hard to see on the high spot, but otherwise ok. Has the motto, "Gott Mit Uns" which means "God Be With Us." I personally knew the soldier who brought this back from the Great War and everthing about this belt is original including the leather chord fastening the buttons. The chord holding the buttons is fragile from age and has broken in a few places. The leather belt is actually pretty good and very solid considering its age. Try to find one of these as they are very scarce and can be considered rare. Sold only in the USA. Thanks and good luck.
