This is a fantastically detailed and absolutely guaranteed original and very old regimental stein in mint condition . It belonged to reservist Hagen commemorating his service from 1894-97 . Reservist Hagen was assigned to the Hussar Regiment Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands (Hannover) No. 15 . This unit was garrisoned in Wandsbek.
The stein has a half liter porcelain body. The body is tapered as observed in really early steins. It seems the style changed to straight bodies about 1900 or so. The body is profusely hand painted. It shows a royal crown over the black and white shield of this rare Hussars regiment. This is surrounded by various flags. A mounted uniformed rider holding a lance is shown below. This is shown above the cartouche of the regiment and is surrounded by the flags of Prussia and Hannover. There are two side scenes. One is a scene in a village with soldiers meeting their sweethearts and the other of a pair of mounted soldiers with highly detailed uniforms and busbys. The colors for this regiment is black and yellow. A dual roster list is present on either side of the central scene and has absolutely no fading. All letters are crisp and legible. Incredible detail here. Both frieze bands are yellow outlined in red to match this regiments colors. All colors are crisp and vibrant. Tremendous amount of hand painted detail is present including busbys, shoulder boards, buttons, flags, crown, belts, swords, drums and even the detail in the horses harnesses, blankets and the grass. The highly painted details added can be felt as original steins are. Very fine detail here. Too much to list. Lithopane is crack free. There are no chips or cracks in the stein. In old German script above the upper frieze band is the slogan "Stolz zu Ross die Cavallerie, auf den Posten spat u. fruth" or Proudly on horseback, the cavalry is at their post late and early. Lid has no pewter tears and consists of a mounted Hussar holding a lance. Thumblift is the Prussian eagle Outstanding stein that is nearly 114 years old. Please note that I only ship to the US and Canada. I have a very liberal return policy. It is simple. If you are not pleased, return the stein in the original condition for a refund minus shipping and Ebay fees. All I care is that you are happy with your item. I strive to work out any problems to your satisfaction. I simply ask that you let me know within a reasonable amount of time if you plan to return it. I also guarantee for life (mine) that this is an original Imperial German stein. Please . I reserve the sole right to refuse a bid from anyone with less than 50 transactions, 100% positive feedback or is not located in the US or Canada without first consulting with me. I will ship in any method you choose but I do require a signature and insurance due to the fragile nature of these wonderful steins. Good luck.
