Up for auction is an original ww1 Imperial German Prussian em / nco spiked helmet (pickelhaube) in original as found condition complete with the chinstraps and both cockades. The helmet body is complete and in overall very good condition. The rear visor is unstitched but held onto the helmet by the brass spine. T are a couple of stamps on the rear visor but I can't make them out but one looks like BAW in a box and the other is most likely a unit stamp. The fittings are all solid brass and are totally damage free. The liner is in very good overall condition with all the fingers present although the dome string (leather) has torn through some of the finger eyes, as is normally the case. The chinstrap is unbroken and both cockades are present. The cockades are not the cheaper one piece stamped and painted type but the multi piece construction type with nickel silver inserts. A nice original unmolested helmet, these are extremely hard to find as they are very fragile and are usually missing parts. This isn't some cobbled together piece of junk, all the parts are original to the helmet and the helmet is just how I recently purchased it from a local New England estate. Fresh to the market and never having been in a collection before, complete with the original dust. Shipping in the US will be $12.00, insurance is optional but highly recommended. read more
