A Super War and Victory to an Irish Vet, Hon Capt Mark Pendry Hatch RAVC, Duleek, Co. Meath who died from the effects of gas on the 23 June 1923. Comes with CD of officers papers which mention he was the son of a farmer from Duleek and entered Trinity College Dublin where he studied Veterinary Science. He qualified as a Vet and worked in Navan, Co Meath Ireland. He was commissioned into the RAVC in 1914 and sent to France disembarking on the 19-11-1914. Medals each named Lieut M P Hatch as confirmed on the MIC and come with the original ribbons. He is in addition entitled to the 1914 Mons star in addition to the War and Victory Pair. From his service papers included, it seems he was gassed in 1915, sent home to Ireland to recover and became a very sick man, eventually succumbing to the effects of his gas poisoning in 1923. His younger brother Nicholas Steven Hatch was killed as an officer in the 13th Royal Irish Rifles on the 1st July 1916. His address is the Mill House, Duleek which was used as a RIC / Black and Tans base in the War of Independence. He is buried in the Church in the centre of Duleek, photo enclosed.
