Up for auction is a stunning pair of WW1 officer's boots, complete with sectional wooden 'trees'. They have always been stored on these 'trees', so have retained their shape beautifully. The boots are made of dark chestnut brown leather, which is in extremely good condition. There is very minor scuffing to the front toes. There are small areas of surface wear on the soft leather inner fronts. The tops of the inner front leather have slightly uneven edges - on the right boot the edge is clean cut but slightly uneven - on the left boot the front it is also clean cut, but slightly more uneven, and shows minor signs of wear. All the buckles, straps, eyelets, stitching etc are in very good condition, but the top back strap is missing from one boot. The laces appear to be original. The soles and heels are studded, and there is minimal wear visible on either boot. The 'trees' are sectional, with hinged ankles. The left one is perfect, but the right one has a small area of damage - see photos. This doesn't affect the usability of the item, but would benefit from a repair as the broken edge is a bit sharp and splintery. I don't know what wood they are made of - it is heavy, and light in colour. It has been varnished, and some of this varnish has worn away due to normal 'wear and tear'.
