Up for bid are 2 original World War I US Army gold overseas chevrons / service stripes. The chevrons are clean and in good condition as can be seen in the photographs. The stripes are constructed from a heavy gold bullion wire which has been sewn to a wool backing. I believe they were custom made.A gold chevron was awarded / authorized for each 6 months of overseas service (France) and were worn point down on the left sleeve. Two gold chevrons indicate the veteran had been shipped to France in the spring of 1918 and remained until the spring or summer of 1919. This is commonly seen amongst the returning veterans of the 29th Division which is exactly the case here. These chevrons belonged to a member of the 29th Division who served in the 111th Field Artillery, Battery F, American Expeditionary Forces. The veteran's name and 7 digit serial / service number will be provided to the winning bidder upon request. Pictures are of the actual item you are bidding on. If you have any questions, please email me before bidding. I will be glad to supply additional pictures of something you need to see in order to check condition. Thank you for looking.
