An interesting ribbon brooch from WW1. It is made made from gilded brass with the ribbon encapsulated with glass. The brooch which was made to be worn on ceremonial occasions, signified that the wearer had been decorated for Gallantry in Action. The registration no on the back of the brooch dates this design to 1888, so this particilar brooch could well be before WW1, perhaps even Victorian.
