World War 1 US Military Bayonet

For Springfield Rifle - SA 1918

Comes with metal scabbard that has been painted white and also a white canvas scabbard with brown leather tip and belt loop. I don't know why these are white, either an officer's bayonet or dress bayonet. Came from a local VFW sale. The handle and the blade seem to be coated, I assume for protection over the years. The handle is missing the locking mechanism, but t is a rattle inside the handle that I don't know what it could be. Blade is in unsharpened condition and 15 3/4 inches long. Overall length is 20 1/4 inches. One side of the blade is marked SA 1918, and a flaming bomb symbol. The other side of the blade has US and serial number 1006886, t is NOT and eagle head on this side. The blade has a few scratches. but is free of nics. Sorry I don't know much about edged weapons, feel free to inform me or ask any questions you may have. Being sold as-is. Thanks for looking!
