5319 Private Walter William Grant "D"Coy, 7th Bn, Leinster Regiment (Royal Canadians)

Victory Medal 1914-19 (5319 Pte. W.W.Grant. Leins.R.) good very fine,

with copy of medal index card and service record documentation.

A fish dock labourer from Grimsby, Private Grant first enlisted with the Lincolnshire Regiment but soon transferred to the Leinster Regiment. He served in France & Flanders with "D" Company, 7th (Service) Battalion, where he sustained a gunshot wound to his left arm in March 1917. Subsequently serving with the Labour Corps (229911), he was discharged to Class Z Army Reserve upon demobilisation in February 1919. He died in 1955, aged 70.
