These medals were issued to my uncle, Harry Dennis. He was a coal miner, born in Sutton in Ashfield, Notts. Both medals are inscribed 48164 Pte H.Dennis. York R. He survived the war and returned to coal mining. I remember him telling me he was in the Green Howards and spent some time with his Regiment in Russia.
