Offered for sale: One Scarce Remington Bayonet and Leather Scabbard in excellent condition. This bayonet was manufactured in the USA in December of 1915 by Remington to fit the P14 rifle and trench shotguns issued to both the British and US military during WW1 and used all the way into WW2. The markings are clear and are: Remington mfg stamp enclosed in a circle, 12 - 15 and 1913 at the base of blade which retains most of the blue black color and does not appear to have been sharpened since being issued. The other side has British bend test X, arrow and other proof marks. The blade is approx 17 inches long and bayonet is approx 21 3/4 inches over all. This bayonet escaped the mid 1916 order to add a oil hole to the pommel. These without the oil hole are harder to come by since any mfg after that date or brought into the armory were supposed to have the oil hole added. The wood grips show normal handling/storage marks and are fairly dark from being soaked in oil for so many years. but are not cracked or split. T are no cracks splits or rot in thread of scabbard the metal throat and tip have a Brown/blue finish. The research that I have done indicates the round type frog stud this scabbard has is correct for the American bayonets. All around a 90+ year old bayonet that has survived in better than average condition. Thanks for looking .
