WW1 / WWI BRITISH WAR MEDAL Leather Case ~C.M. CANNIFF Offered is the British War Medal belonging to Clarkson M. Canniff, a Civil Engineer graduate of the University of Toronto and member of the the 74th Regiment CEF. According to records, the 74th recruited in Peel and York counties and were mobilized in Barrie, Ontario. The 74th was eventually absorbed by the 50th, 51st and 52nd Btns and the 2nd CMR Btn. All these units served in either Britain or France, with the 3rd or 4th Canadian Divisions during The Great War. His half-brother, Pte. William Hamilton Canniff, served during the North West Rebellion in 1885 (please see our other auctions for his medal). And his father, Dr. William Canniff, was renowned for his interest in Canadian history and contributions to the field of medicine, especially military medicine during the 1800's. His service includes the American Civil War, Franco-Prussian War & North West Rebellion (please see our other auctions for his military pieces). We've obtained copies of Clarkson's Attestation Paper's (please see below) - dated, November 30th, 1915 - which we'll gladly include for the auction winner. The medal is in mint condition, the ribbon shows some ware.
